It all began the year that the Colts and the Bears played in the Super Bowl. IHM founder, Estelle Keese AKA, the Internet’s Mama E, was teaching a class on Super Bowl Sunday. … Talk about dedication to a mission!
In Mama E’s words, “This was a group of singles and couples who had come together on Super Bowl Sunday to witness the first ever First And Goal Focus Group. This was the beginning session of a concept that grew to become First And Goal Seminars. This very energetic group of men and women had come together to talk about their relationships. The purpose was more about relationship enhancement than to provide a fix or mend “problem” relationships.
My idea was to use the American style of football terms and situations from how the game is played to focus on strengthening relationships. Football can become a more perfect medium than one would imagine, for creating analogies for couples interactions during their experience of a relationship.
During the discussions we explored scenes from relationships that many of us have experienced. We discussed how various football terms could be compared to our living out the dozens of experiences that evolve as our relationships grow.
The outcome of that initial First And Goal Seminar was an invigorating, interactive and exciting growth experience for all the couples who attended. It was hilarious and yet it was informational.”
